Waterman Puts Mammography Patients at Ease (Video)  E-mail

A new study from Princeton University reports that stress, happiness and aging are tied together.  After age 50, stress tends to plunge while happiness is on the increase.

However, in a separate 2003 study, researchers found an increase in cortisol levels – a hormone associated with stress – for women around the time of their mammogram.

This comes as no surprise to the staff of Florida Hospital Waterman’s digital mammography department.  So they go out of their way to minimize the natural stress and anxiety associated with this important procedure.

The technology itself also assists in reducing stress because the digital mammogram generally takes less time and the use of a soft pad can ease some of the discomfort.
